Type of Media:
Green Sand: Glauconite, coated with manganese dioxide, is an excellent greensand filtration media for catalyzing the oxidation of soluble iron and manganese and the gas hydrogen sulfide. Once oxidized to the form of tiny particles, manganese greensand serves as an effective filtration media to filter the particles.
Anthracite: Often referred to as hard coal is an excellent media for water clarification in drinking or industrial waste water. Anthracite promotes higher service flow rates and longer filter runs with less head loss than single media filter beds. Backwash rates are reduced as well. Low uniformity coefficient anthracite filter media extends the life of your filter before the media must be changed out.
Activated Carbon: Activated carbon is produced from carbonaceous source materials, such as coconuts, nutshells, coal, peat and wood. Activated carbon is used to purify liquids and gases in a variety of applications, including municipal drinking water, wastewater treatment, odor removal, industrial pollution control. Remove Suspended Solids, Oils & Organics, Metals & Other Impurities From Water/Wastewater.
Calcite Contactor (Remineralization): Reverse Osmosis (RO) removed more than 90-99.99% of all the contaminants including minerals from the drinking water supply. Calcite is a naturally occurring calcium carbonate media. One of the advantages of Calcite is its self-limiting property. Calcite corrects pH only enough to reach a non-corrosive equilibrium. It does not overcorrect under normal conditions. Upon contact with calcite, acidic waters slowly dissolve the calcium carbonate to raise the pH.
Pressure Sand Filter: Sand filtration is used for the removal of suspended matter. The water flows vertically through a fine bed of sand and/or gravel. Particles are removed by way of absorption or physical encapsulation. If there is excessive pressure loss on the filter, it must be rinsed. PAY has a variety of sand filters for water treatment to remove suspended solids and reduce turbidity. Whether suspended solids are the primary concern at a site, or if water needs to have solids removed to facilitate further treatment, sand filters are a reliable technology.
Multi Media Filter: A sand-anthracite filter or dual media filter/multi-media filter is primarily used for the removal of turbidity and suspended solids as low as 10-20 microns. Dual media filters provide very efficient particle removal under the conditions of high filtration rate. Inside a sand-anthracite filter is a layered bed of filter media. A Multi-‐Media Filter is used to reduce the level of suspended solids (turbidity) in incoming feed water. Suspended solids consist of small particles such as silt, clay, grit, organic matter, algae and other microorganisms.
